Duke's Meadow, Banbury
Managed by:Banbury Town Council
OS grid reference:SP 451 428
Nearest postcode:OX16 1EL
Usual work:Fen cutting, coppicing, pollarding

This is an area of wetland close to playing fields and a modern housing estate. There are some older willows and areas of new willow growth, as well as a significant area of fen. There is a circular boardwalk route around the site.

Conservation Management

Conservation management involves regular pollarding of the willows and should also include cutting of the fen. There is a lot of young willow, growing densely together, some of which should be coppiced to increase the diversity of the habitat.

Follow the A34 and M40 Northbound to Junction 11, then take the A422 towards Banbury. Go straight on over 2 roundabouts and then turn right onto Southam Rd. At the next roundabout turn left and the site is almost immediately on the right. The van can be parked on the wide grass verge.
