Exmoor National Park is 267 square miles of open heath and moor, ancient wooded valleys, fast-flowing rivers and rugged north Devon/Somerset coastline. This is 'Tarka the Otter' and 'Lorna Doone' country; the wide variety of habitats home to myriad species of interesting and important flora and fauna, as well as archaeological features reminding us of our historical heritage. The area is managed and protected by the National Park Authority and National Trust.

OCV have assisted the West Exmoor National Trust wardens to maintain one of their farms in a steep, wooded combe on the coastal Countisbury estate through activities such as path maintenance. We have also helped the Arlington Court National Trust wardens prepare for a large fencing project by clearing the fence-line and helping prepare split/cleaved chestnut fencing materials. The addition of fences allows grazing of the land, which keeps invasive scrub in check thereby allowing a diversity of native flora and fauna to thrive.
